Non-technical skills Workshop
Learn the skills Airline Pilots have used for decades to make your team safer and reduce mortality.
The one-day Non-technical skills workshop will introduce you to the skills used by Airline pilots all over the world. In the 1980's, Non-technical skills training (also known as Team Resource Managment training) was mandated for all commercial pilots. Since then, the number of aviation related fatalities has reduced significantly as flight crews learned how to work best as part of a team. These principles alerted the aviation industry to the human interactions that are an integral part of any team performance. In Surgical teams, this training has the potential to save patient lives and therefore mortality rates. Surgical accidents can be reduced and lawsuits as a result of procedures gone wrong are less likely. During the Non-technical Skills Workshop, you will learn the following skills: Planning & Briefing - Plan surgical interventions and brief the team effectively Leadership - Learn how to be a better team member moving effortlessly between leading and following Communication - Have confidence to speak up during critical situations and be comfortable speaking to any member of the team Situation Awareness - Build up a complete picture of what is going on, what needs to happen and when. Build situation awareness in yourself and your team. Workload Management - Learn strategies to keep your own workload manageable and that of the team. Recognise high workload in yourself and others and know how to deal with this.
